Support This All-Woman Team To Lead The Springfield City Council

The most important lesson gleaned from running for the highest political office in our city is that we are in desperate need of courageous leadership; leadership that understands that ‘power concedes nothing without a demand’ and that uplifting the most marginalized in our community is more important than any amount of money and power that one receives to do otherwise.

City Councilors Tracye Whitfield and Zaida Govan embody this leadership and their actions continue to show us that they are determined to advocate on behalf of the people without acquiescing to the status quo, which has become all too common.

This is why I am supporting Tracye Whitfield (At-Large) to be the next President to lead the City Council and Zaida Govan (Ward 8) to serve as the next Vice President.

They are both qualified and competent women who are more than deserving to serve in leadership roles. Not to mention, they are reflective of the makeup of our city.

Please join me in the chambers of City Hall this Monday, December 18th at 7:00pm to show our support for these two women and show the newly elected City Council that the community desires they cast a vote in favor of them as well.

Anyone who would like to speak out and voice their support in favor of Tracye Whitfield and Zaida Govan prior to our regular meeting at 6:30pm should contact the City Council office at 413-787-6170.
