Resources for Local Entrepreneurs and Start-ups

SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – The Springfield City Library and Valley Venture Mentors will co-host an online panel presentation on Wednesday, June 9th, from 5:00-6:30 pm on Local Resources for Small Business Owners.

Six panelists from organizations in Western Mass will discuss the services and guidance—most of it free or low-cost—available to local small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs. Anyone 18 years or older is welcome to attend this free online session.

Librarian Lisa Lipshires, an organizer of the event, said its purpose is to help small businesses that may be struggling to stay afloat during the pandemic.

“We also want to put helpful information in the hands of people who plan to establish a small business,” Lipshires said. “With so many people unemployed, interest in starting a small business is extra high.”

Local organizations represented on the panel will include Score Western Massachusetts, Valley Venture Mentors, the U.S. Small Business Administration, Common Capital, The Massachusetts Small Business Development Center Network, and EforAll/Epara Todos.

Hope Ross Gibaldi, Community Engagement Manager of Valley Venture Mentors and a presenter on the panel, said she had been thinking about putting together a presentation of this kind before the pandemic began.

“People are not always aware of the low-cost or free services available to them right here in the Valley,” Ross Gibaldi said. “I’m thrilled to help connect local entrepreneurs with resources that will boost their chances of success.”

Registration for this event is free through Valley Venture Mentors. Please select June 9th.
