Twenty twenty-five (2025) was a Year of Impact for Alden Baptist Church at 649 State Street, Springfield, MA. Echoes of celebration resounded within the historic church and the surrounding community as the congregation welcomed in a new pastor. On Sunday, June 1, 2025, Rev Shawn M. Jiles, MDiv was installed as the 6th Pastor of Alden within reach of the church’s 81st Anniversary. With joy, anticipation, and deep gratitude, the members whole-heartedly embraced a new chapter under the leadership of a young, energetic, and Spirit-led pastor rooted right here in the heart of the city.
Homegrown, born and raised in Springfield, Rev. Jiles is no stranger to the community he now shepherds. A 2005 graduate of Wilbraham and Monson Academy, he went on to earn dual degrees in Mathematics and Economics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he was inducted into the Pi Mu Epsilon National Mathematics Honor Society. His ministerial training culminated in 2024 with a Master of Divinity from Grand Canyon University, where he also earned membership in the prestigious Alpha Chi National Honor Society.
Rev. Jiles’ journey in ministry began at Solid Rock Community Baptist Church, where he preached his initial sermon in 2017 and was licensed as an Associate Minister. By 2023, he was ordained as the Director of Christian Education, a role that deepened his commitment to teaching and discipleship. When Alden Baptist Church invited him to serve as Interim Pastor in October 2024, the congregation quickly recognized the anointing, vision, and vibrancy he brought to the pulpit. Within eight months of his serving, that recognition became official as the church unanimously voted to call and install him as the next Senior Pastor.
Anchored by his “Year of Impact” vision, Rev. Jiles’ first eight months have already brought renewed spiritual energy to Alden. He has revitalized weekly Bible studies, expanded community outreach through prayer initiatives and giveaways, and strengthened bonds with local churches through fellowship. His preaching—described by Rev. Andrea Ayvazian (associate pastor) as delivered with “vision and vigor!”—reflects his belief that every worship experience should draw unbelievers toward salvation and guide believers toward deeper transformation in Christ.
Beyond the pulpit, Rev. Jiles brings a full life and an unwavering presence. He and his wife, Adrianne—his high school sweetheart—recently celebrated 14 years of marriage. Together they are raising two sons, Emmanuel (9) and Elijah (5), who share their father’s bright smile and boundless energy. When he’s not preaching or teaching, you might find him on the golf course or lifting his voice in song—something he has done since his college days, even appearing on several studio-recorded albums with his a cappella group, The Rusty Pipes.
With passion, humility, and what he describes as “awestruck wonder,” Rev. Jiles proclaims the Word of God with contagious enthusiasm. He seeks to empower believers to live for Christ one decision at a time and to compel unbelievers with the transformative truth that Jesus is the way to salvation.
Alden Baptist Church is stepping boldly into 2026 and its future—and under Pastor Jiles’ leadership, that future looks bright—inspired and full of impact. ■
