A famous poet and author, Rudyard Kipling, said, “God could not be everywhere, so He made mothers.” I’d like to dedicate this article to every mother, every mother to be, and every mother that is no longer with us but on the shoulders of which we stand.
We can never underestimate the influence of mothers on our lives. They nurture us, they are our life-long companions, well-wishers, teachers, confidants, and so much more. They are also open to doing and playing just about every role there is to make us secure in their love for us. And even though this is the case, I haven’t met a mother yet whose motherhood journey hasn’t been without challenges and struggles. Mothers, who despite having roadblocks, don’t give up and even begin getting stronger and more determined to push through. Mothers are marvelously made!
From their million-dollar smiles, even when everything is not going well, to their unwavering focus to care for us regardless of our age, I have much gratitude for a mother’s love, sacrifices, and far-reaching influences on our lives. Mothers are marvelously made!
Marvelously made does not mean perfect. But marvelously made does bring with it, much responsibility. Remember, to whom much is given, much is required. Being blessed to be a mother is a blessing beyond measure. I’ve mentioned before, mothers can’t be fathers. But fathers also can’t be mothers. The responsibility of parenting is a huge responsibility, yet many mothers take it on, making it look much easier than it is. There’s just something about the way mothers are made.
There’s something about the love of a mother that reaches beyond normal understanding. From the arms that rocked us, to the shoulders on which we cry, a mother’s love is also never ending. Reflecting on the times that I disappointed my mother, yet she never held it against me, only seemed to make the most sense as I exercised the same forgiveness with my children. It reinforced what unconditional love really means. Mothers are marvelously made!
It doesn’t matter if you’re a single mother, a married mother, a young mother, or a seasoned mother. We are inspirations to many mothers who think that their motherhood journey is difficult and may be struggling to find their way. This is when a marvelously made mother takes the time to share the good, the bad, and the sometimes “ugly” journey that they’ve traveled. It helps to let them know that they are not alone. After all, we, too, have shoulders to be stood on.
Mothers are superheroes! When the world pushes us, as it oftentimes does, we should draw inspiration from other mothers. Going through hardships doesn’t have to be in isolation. Lock arms with your sister mothers. They will push or pull us to be hardworking, strong, and resilient human beings so that we can stand up to any circumstance that may occur in our lives. Our strength throughout life’s challenges has been remarkable! Mothers are marvelously made!
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY
