March 2 is a day of nationally coordinated simultaneous direct action at 31 State Capitals, including the Massachusetts State House. This mass Poor People’s and Low Wage Workers’ moral march to these state house assemblies is part of 40 weeks of massive voter mobilization across the United States. It’s time to take the demands of poor and low-wealth people for living wages, healthcare, housing, education, environmental justice, voting rights and an end to militarism and the war economy to the streets and directly to our state lawmakers across the country.

Under the leadership of Bishop William Barber and Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis, The National Poor Peoples Campaign is a fusion campaign that brings together in one movement the issues that impact all of us, especially low-income people. The PPC is rooted in a moral analysis based on our deepest religious and constitutional values that demand justice for all. Moral revival is necessary to save the heart and soul of our democracy.

Poverty is the 4th leading cause of death in the United States. The Poor Peoples Campaign demands the abolishment of poverty in the richest country on earth. And given the extraordinary and murderous events taking place in the Middle East, the Poor Peoples campaign will call for a ceasefire in Gaza in it March 2 mobilization.

So let’s show the Massachusetts Poor Peoples Campaign that they can count on Mass. Peace Action to show up in large numbers on Saturday morning, March 2. The event starts with a 10am march from the Old State House in Boston (corner State and Washington Streets) to the steps across the street from the State House on Beacon Street where the rally takes place at 11am.
