Winter’s Not Over Yet… And Mass Save is Trying to Help More People in Springfield

Share this:

Springfield has been fortunate this year in piloting new projects for residents. Grants have come into the City from the Block Grants, from the Clean Energy Center, as well as more from Mass Save. It’s incumbent on Springfielders to use these programs well, with hopes that they will prove successful and soon be available to more cities in the near future.
You may remember seeing this chart of moderate-income levels:

Household Members Income Range
1 $49,197-$65,595
2 $64,334-$85,778
3 $79,471-$105,960
4 $94,609 – $126,144
5 $109,746 – $146,327

If your household income falls BELOW these numbers, you are still eligible for a LOT! If you’re already on fuel assistance, call HomeWorks to schedule your no-cost energy assessment. If you’re not yet on fuel assistance, apply at Valley Opportunity Council at https://toapply.org/VOC. Please understand that while this process is time-consuming, once you have your fuel assistance status, you will benefit in many ways and it will be totally worth your time. (This is available for West Springfield too.)
If your household income falls ABOVE the numbers in this chart, schedule your assessment now by calling HomeWorks at 413-207-9807 or going to www.hwe.works/EGS. 75% or more of needed insulation will be covered by the Mass Save program, and you can learn about all the other benefits available to you. (True for West Springfield too.)
Find yourself earning too much to qualify for low-income programs, but you’re still struggling these days? In recognition of these hard times, Mass Save has developed a new program for households that fit into the numbers above. Just by stating that to the best of your knowledge, you fit into the income ranges in this chart, you can receive a no-cost energy audit as well as no-cost insulation. (This part is available all over Massachusetts.)
If you live in Springfield, and if you heat your residence with delivered fuel (oil, propane or electrical resistance), you may well be eligible for more: no-cost remediation of your home for knob and tube or for vermiculite/asbestos removal… and potentially no-cost heat pumps.

Because these items are big ticket items, Mass Save asks for a financial check on the household’s income level. HomeWorks can help you with this straightforward process and once you are approved, HomeWorks will facilitate your next steps. Their customer service people will take you from your audit through insulation and through remediation (if needed) and through heat pump installation.
Sound good? Contact HomeWorks at 413-207-9807 or go to www.hwe.works/EGS. The sooner you make this call, the sooner you’ll benefit from saving money on your utility bills while doing your share to help the planet. Plus, you’ll learn that heat pumps serve as air conditioners too in the hot months!
There is a new service in Springfield that we want to introduce you to. The City of Springfield, through a State grant, has access to the Home Modernization Navigator which can help residents find their way through the many different clean energy financial resources, incentives, and programs available to help decarbonize your homes. This service is available for renters, homeowners, and landlords of 1-4 unit rental properties at no charge for all income levels. They can provide a broad range of support and information. You can contact them at 844-253-2695 or at https://goclean.masscec.com/home-modernization-navigator ■
